The foundation of Quito is long before December 6, 1534, the first inhabitants populated the eastern region (the Quitu Cara), which is currently recognized as the Metropolitan District of Quito.
Long before that the Incas arrived. Rumiñahui was the one who defended his lands from the Spaniards, although he did not achieve his goals. According to the fates of several historians on August 28, 1534, the city of Quito was founded by Diego de Almagro. The town was made exactly where today is the historic center of Quito, Sebastian de Benalcazar on December 6, 1534.
